REAPER - KA-50
SHADOW - SA342
RHINO - Mi-8
OUTLAW - UH-1H
DRAGON - MI-24P

Busy Day is an exercise based mission intended for working on Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs). In Busy Day, one of a number of exercises will be selected to work on based on who has registered and what needs to be covered.

RL3s who are skilled in their chosen airframe can confidently join Busy Day knowing that the mission is training oriented. It will support learning with demonstrations and a setting that allows pilots to ask questions and take the time to learn something new.

Busy Day is not a training mission for pilots who still need to work on fundamentals of flight including basic operation of the aircraft and its systems, control of the aircraft in flight and landing/departure, and flying in formation. These pilots however may fly with an RL1 or IP/UT to observe.

US Mission Design Workshop 2/3: Missions for The Den

There is noted to be a lack of mission designers within the US region who are hosting missions and supporting activity during our evening hours. In order to tackle this issue, I will be holding a three part mission design workshop series to help others learn the program and have an better understanding of what it means to make a mission in DCS. In this workshop series, you will be working on various aspects that make up a well rounded mission here at BSD. The series is split into three sections:

1) Your First Mission - In this session, we will look at the basics of using the mission editor and create a simple single helicopter mission that has a goal and uses triggers to operate.

2) Missions for BSD - Creating a solo mission is simple. Making a mission for a multiplayer squadron however can be quite daunting. In this session, we will look at the elements of creating a successful multiplayer mission such as tasking, planning, briefing, and how to be flexible for the potential turnout.

3) Enhancing Immersion - In this session, we will go over a few tips to help you make a well rounded and detail oriented mission that really brings life to the party. We will also check out some more advanced triggers to make your missions more lively and even cinematic.

These three workshop sessions will be recorded and made available for reviewing or for others to view who may not be able to attend.

 Missions for The Den

Making a solo mission is one thing. Making a multiplayer mission for an organized milsim squadron is a whole different ballgame. It certainly seems daunting at first, especially when you compare yourself to senior designers who do this in their sleep. Just remember that we all started exactly where you are now and faced the same amount of pressure. Always keep in mind that no matter how simple or detailed your mission is, we will still enjoy flying it because our favourite thing to do at BSD is flying missions together. Sometimes even the simplest smaller missions are the most memorable.

In this workshop, we will look at what you need to do to run a successful mission at BSD as well as explore methods and tools to help you ensure your mission is a success. We will discuss the expectations of an organized mission at BSD, creating a briefing, planning, getting the duration right, different taskings each company performs, the Game Master script, planning for unexpected dropouts and sign ups, and the details you put into the mission.

US Mission Design Workshop 1/3: Your First Mission

 Your First Mission

The mission editor is a basic tool with basic functions for placing static, ai, and player controlled units on land, at sea, or in the air. It also supports control over the environment and has basic trigger functionality to bring life to your missions if used correctly. The program can be a bit overwhelming at first with no tutorial or introduction to get you started. This session is intended to do just that. We will take a look at all the basic functions and controls of the mission editor, come up with a simple goal, look into a few triggers, and create our very own fully functional solo pilot mission.

Experienced mission designers are welcome to join this session as you may learn something new or have something interesting to share that may not be covered.
